Qena is an Egyptian city located in Upper Egypt, east of the Nile, and is the capital of Qena Governorate and its largest city of 350,000 people. Among its most famous landmarks are the Abd al-Rahim al-Qenawy Mosque, South Valley University, the Faculty of Engineering, Al-Azhar University, and the Dendera Temple. The city of Qena ranked third in the City Beautification Award at its eighth session in 2006 issued by the Arab Towns Organization.
